The Lotus Tower. also referred to as Colombo Lotus Tower, is a tower of 356 m (1,168 ft), located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It also reflects the symbolic landmark of Sri Lanka. As of 16 September 2019, the tower is currently the tallest self-supported structure in South Asia. It is also the second tallest structure in South Asia. The tower is also the 11th tallest completed tower in Asia and it is also the 19th tallest tower in the world. The ‘Lotus Tower is a Multifunctional TV and Telecommunications Tower’ foreseen to be one of the significant landmarks and an epitome of Sri Lankan economy, culture and development.

The Avukana Buddha statue in Sri Lanka

The Avukana statue is a standing statue of the Buddha near Kekirawa in North Central Sri Lanka. The statue, which has a height of more than 40 feet (12 m), was carved out of a large granite rock face during the 5th century. It depicts a variation of the Abhaya mudra, and the closely worn robe is elaborately carved. Constructed during the reign of Dhatusena, it may have been made as a result of a competition between a master and a pupil. The Avukana statue is one of the best e xamples of a standing statue constructed in ancient Sri Lanka. It is now a popular tourist attraction.
